We had so much fun on our Coronado "staycation"! We spent three and a half days relaxing, enjoying the beautiful views of the Coronado Bridge, the boats coming and going on the San Diego Bay, and downtown. The sun came out for us every midmorning, and we always ended up spending hours playing at the pool. Dee and Niki brought all kinds of fun things for the kids, and they were in heaven--it felt like a summer camp experience, but for the whole family! Both boys got to ride their scooters on the sidewalk along the bay, and Parker had an absolute blast swimming in the pool (and warming up in the hot tub). We got to enjoy long dinners every night with the whole group, which made for even more fun times for the cousins, who ranged in age from one and a half to almost twelve! We are so grateful to have had this wonderful vacation and "family reunion." I of course have tons of photos...these are just the ones from my phone :)
Coronado scenery...the full (?) moon rose right behind the bridge. I loved watching all of the boat traffic.
Scooters and the wagon made for lots of fun times and handy transportation to and fro.
Pool time! And lots of it. The water was too cold for Levi to be comfortable, but Parker didn't mind--he just headed for the hot tub whenever he got cold. It's so nice now that Parker is a good swimmer, not having to constantly worry about him around the water. And it's really fulfilling to see him feel comfortable in the pool and just having fun.
Possibly the highlight of the entire vacation for Parker was the poolside competition that he and Alex entered as a team--they named themselves the "Black Dragons." The competition was called "Minute to Win It"--they had to complete challenges in under a minute to move to the next round. For example, they had to put vaseline on their noses, stick their faces in cotton balls, and then shake the cotton balls off into a bucket. Or, they had to put an Oreo cookie on their foreheads and then try to move it down to their mouths without using their hands. They competed against a team of two girls about their age, and after the contest they all made friends and played in the pool. I was so surprised that Parker agreed to do this competition, but he was so excited and genuinely had so much fun. At the end, all of the kids won a "gold medal" and a free strawberry smoothie from the bar--which Parker thought was about the coolest thing in the world.
Family fun times! From L to R: Parker trying to make Levi smile; Lanea being silly at dinner; Parker in the hoodie that Alex was so excited to hand down to him; Mommy smooching on Levi; Mommy trying to get a photo with Levi; Levi, Mimi, and Parker with the beautiful skyline and harbor in the background; Mommy making Parker take a picture with her; Parker having fun with the finger lasers that Mimi brought for the kids (he and Levi would close themselves in the dark hotel bathroom and have dance parties with them); and Clint and Dusti's son, Darby, trying to steal Levi's toys from him ;) Darby is about a year younger than Levi.
