Christmas Time!

A Windy Walk

After the rain moved through yesterday, we got out of the house for a quick walk on the pier. The wind was pretty strong and chilly, and the water was pretty rough. But it felt great to get out for a little bit before we headed to our favorite Christmas tree lot to pick up our tree!

"I Super Love Her"

We took a wagon ride down to the park and brought Baby along. Levi just told me, "Baby is my best friend" and "I super love her."

Happy Birthday to Me

We celebrated my getting another year older with dinner al fresco at Garcia's in Carldbad Village (complete with a margarita) and frozen yogurt afterwards. It felt like a long birthday celebration this year with the Thanksgiving break right before, too!

In the Doldrums

We got to run down to the San Diego Bay for a "quick" sail in the Montgomery  while the kids played at Mimi's house...it was a beautiful late afternoon, but the wind absolutely died on us! We knew when we set out that if we sailed towards downtown, the incoming tide would be against us when it was time to head back to the launch ramp...but the downtown skyline was so beautiful that I just couldn't resist heading for it! We found ourselves totally becalmed, but enjoyed the sunshine and views nonetheless. Sine it was the day after Thanksgiving the harbor was still really quiet, so we enjoyed floating around without much boat traffic. At one point another boat even offered us a tow! I guess they felt sorry for me when they saw me paddling us back towards the launch ramp! But the wind suddenly picked up again as we headed back in, and we were able to enjoy a nice sail back to the dock before it got dark.

Official Library Dude

Parker is an official Public Library cardholder! He is so proud and excited. His class is taking a field trip to the library in a couple of weeks, so the school arranged for all of the kids to get their library cards in advance. His came to him in the mail this weekend, and he was so excited to head to the library right after school today...he didn't even want to play video games first, so you know that it's serious! He put his card on his keychain and had it swinging around on his waist the whole time. He checked out eleven books total (I think), doing the whole thing by himself. It's so awesome to see his love of books and reading just bursting...what could be better??!!
